looking at 2500hd, which is best motor? Duramax, 6.0, or 8.1 ? Will be towing some, although not that much. Also will want to do some modding as well. Any comments would be appreciated.

Duramax,they are bad *** and are very capable of haulin some serious *** also.

 

Id say the DMAX is the BEST awsome power great mpg but also 5000k more and harder to find fuel not to mention HEAVY ( not good for 4 wheeling ).
now the 8.1 is a beast and with mods is even more so but the MPG is also Horrible.
BUT the 6.0 is not weak in anymeans. and with a little bit of help ( say a simple turbo set up ala STS ) you can have much MORE power than the stock 8.1 and Better gas milage when crusing ( this is the hard part as power is so much fun ) plus it would be lighter than the other 2 ( better for wheeling ).
basicly im getting my truck in hopefully a month and since im getting quad steer im limited to the 6.0 and 8.1 but im gonna get the 6.0 anyway for the reasons stated ubove. hell parish went into the high 10 sec with his 4x4 ( ok seriosly turboed system but still ) that some real power on a small gasser.
