Get some Lunati Gold Duals at least, they are cheap. Or some Pac duals or manley etc.. Whatever is in your budget baller.

Looks like if I run a .065 head gasket I'll be at about 10.75:1. This may be better for 91oct tune. What do you all think?

Crazy thing is I bought my 5.0 out of a MO salvage yard back in 06, the engine was a 05 with 11k on it for 1100 and some change to my door.

Do you happen to remember where in MO it was?

I talked to a guy in town that runs a 402 T/A. Turns out that he has the original LS1 with 12,000 miles on it sitting in his garage. I couldn't get him to sell it to me though. Wants to put the car back to stock some day

Man... you're just amping me up to go get mine on Sunday. You running it bone stock? Talked to the machine shop, and for the price of bearings I'm just going to have them replace all of them.

222/226 EPS cam
Lunati Dual Gold springs
LS2 timing set
Melling ported LS6 oil pump

how do the 241 heads flow compared to a set of 243's? I'm thinking of taking my 243 heads and putting them on the 5.3 in my new DD, and just milling the 241's if the flow is similar.

Found flow info... looks like they really fall off after .500 lift. I'll probably just find a set of 243/799 heads for the LS1 and have them milled .010

Good choice on the cam, I was hoping you would put that one in there lol.

Those Lunati Dual Gold springs are very good especially for the price, I would have bought them myself.

Here is a thread on ls1tech with people running those springs with great success. The reason you don't see a lot more people running them is because they are still rather new, they came out in 2011 sometime.

Lunati Dual valve springs? - LS1TECH

I already got it torn down to the bare block, it looked like it only had 10K miles on it. Sold the crank and picking up the new crank today, should have it all back together next week.
