Default Looking to do an Engine swap

I understand that this web site is for LS1 trucks and cars. I have a 99 sierra 1500 which was bought used. and you know that when you buy something used you don't always have a choice on what you get for options. any ways it has the 4.3L V6 in it.
I have known JSmith for a long time and i was rolling around the idea of either geting a new truck with a v8 or he suggested do an engine swap and i think i am going to go for it.

reason why i am posting here i because i need help as far as the computer goes. Im looking to drop in A 6L v8 LQ9 engine. JSmith has said that my pcm in the truck my except a new engine.

also has any one done a swap from V6 to V8 it should be easy given time. i will also do some tranny work to handel the new engine and increased power.

Personally, I would just trade in for a 5.3L truck. I'd mod a 5.3, then save up for a 6.0 down the road if you want more power. All your 5.3 mods would swap over to the 6.0, which would be a MUCH easier swap than a 4.3 to 6.0.

Or you could get a 4.8 truck and swap a 6.0 in it if you dead set on the 6.0 notion. Just my $.02

I recommended the LQ9 swap because he's still in high school and that he could get into some decent power right away without having to spend a bunch of cash for bolt-ons to get him there. An LQ9 in a RCSB 4X4 would be pretty cool, especially after modding it. I'm fairly certain that you will need a new computer for the LQ9 if you decided to go that route.

Seeing Red Again, those are some good suggestions and we had discussed them as well. There are quite a few options really.

I'll never swap another engine in my life if it is not a direct bolt in.

I went from a 4.3L to a SBC 355 in my '92 S10. That swap just about killed me.

I like idea of getting a 4.8L truck and swapping to a 6.0L. Much less headache and in the end I bet it would be cheaper.

swap
