Longtubes??
#1
Does anyone know if longtubes for a 98-99 ls1 fbody will fit my 2001 Silverado with a 4.8?? I can get a kick *** deal on some NIB, but I don't know if they will fit or not. I am not worried about not fitting the y pipe, I've got a torch and a welder. I have LS1 heads so I know they will fit the heads, but what about the steering column etc.?? Can anyone help??

Is there really that big of a difference between coated and painted? I found a place on ebay that sells nib pacesetter lts non-coated for 259 plus 30 shipping. Coated are 375. How big of a difference is there?

they probably do fit with a little massaging
we are running kooks 1 7/8th steped to 2 inch with a 3.5 inch collertors race headers from an f-body in a 1999 chevy i dont remember but i think the left hand side needed some massaging the right one just sliped in like it belong there

As long as they are stainless it's not that big a deal, other than more heat under the hood. If they are mild steel, you'd better get coated inside and out if you don't want them to rust through in 5-6 years. I know from personal experience with my 94 Sonoma and Edelbrock TES system. I won't buy anything except stainless in the future.

I would pay extra to get them coated. My JBA shorties weren't coated and I melted my a/c compressor, not literally, but definitely killed it b/c of the heat. The more heat you can keep in the headers and send out the tailpipe, the better; keeps underhood temp down, therefore keeping intake temp down and avoids breaking things.
