Default Cats gone.

Got the exhaust redone again. This time, I moved the cutouts right off the headers. I had the cats flanged so I could put them back in for emmisions. Yes, I do scrape the bottom crossmember from time to time.

Oh yea, that dented tranny pan was compliments of the shop that replaced my motor. Ugly, but doesn't hurt anything.

Was your old set-up with the cut-outs real loud? On the old set-up, you had the cut-outs after the cats, right?

Yes they were after the cats. After removing them, the exhaust did not get any louder at idle. But with the cutouts open in the old spot, yes it was very loud. I have not uncapped them in the new location yet.

Two questions Greg:
How did removing the cats effect the over all sound of the exhaust? (volume and tone)
Why do you have one entry to the xpipe flanged and not the other? I am guessing it has something to do with the geometry when you put bolt the cats back in?

It really didn't make near the differance I thought it would If anything, a little more "raspy" I will get a little better tone at WOT. Running those dual Magnaflows, just makes the truck so damn quiet.

2. The reason the one on the right is flanged at the x pipe is because to get that cat in and out easily, we had to make a break out spool. Otherwise it would just be a PITA to get the right side in and out.
