Default line pressure question

just about all my goodies are in except the tranni stuff. i plan on putting my longtubes on and putting a shift kit in at the same time figuring it would be easier w/ the exhaust tubing out of the way. from what i've heard and read, if i put the shift kit in the line pressure in tranni needs to be set to stock settings. a couple years ago i had my truck in to have some tranni warranty work done and the guy working on it saw that i wanted a shift kit in there. i couldnt get him the shift kit on time so he said he just upped the line pressure. now my question is, can the line pressure be put back to stock when i get my tune or could the guy working on the tranni make the adjustment while he had it all taken apart? i dont know if line pressure adjustments have to be made via computer or can also be done just turning a **** inside it somewhere.

As far as I know the line pressure has to be set in the tune... If you getting a retune you will probably want to lower your torque managment some and adjust your shift times...

i of course will be getting rid of most, if not all the TM. i'm not mechanically inclined enough to know the different ways of increasing the line pressure. i want to get it back to stock settings but i dont know if its possible the mechanic could've increased it w/out adjusting via the computer.

Not quite correct. You can physically raise the base line pressure of the trans by shimming the pump or changing the spring. The tune controls the line pressure desired at the load/speed settings you specify.

To get rid of all TM, at least get a vette servo and finish installing a shift kit with valve body modifications to hold it together a bit longer.

crap. thats probably how he increased the line pressure. looks like i'll buy everything i can think of for a well built tranni and then send my tranni, shift kit, and servos to a transmission shop and have them install those things and add whatever else they feel is needed to make it solid.
