I will say this about L's. They are fast out of the box. They will go 12's no problem. The ones around here that are really fast like Don's Bolt and HDMLUM i think it is go 10's. But they have about 30-40g's invested in them. They are in a class of their own. I personally would never buy or drive one. But that is just me. I feel that us LS1 owners have more passion and love into out trucks to get them to run the times that they do than the L's owners. Because remember L's were made to go fast. My 4.8 wasnt.

I'm not real crazy about the looks of lightnings...
They have a nice stance, especially up front. They could use some bigger wheels to fill the wheelwells better. I'm not a huge fan of the 'roundness' I see, or the step things behind the doors.
I think they'd look real sweet with a mild chop, a 2" drop out back, and a 'regular' bed.
It's all relative of course. I know a lot of people that dont like the sharp lines of the new Chevy's. Even die-hard Chevy guys who prefer the older style.
Performance wise I'm clueless.

What's it take to get one into the 12's like that. He didn't have headers I know. I looked at it while he had the hood up, but he didn't bother to notice me so I went on. Looked dirty under the hood, so I don't think it was much.

I had one, and loved it. The L was the best truck I ever owned and prob would still have it if a job change didn't necessitate my to get rid of it. Fast?? Mine ran mid-12's with mods (no headwork, no massaging the motor at all, etc). As for running other vehicles, the fact that a vehicle that weighs in @ 4600+lbs that runs that fast is a testament to the product itself. Guys all over are running high 11's in this truck with a KB blower attached instead of the Eaton. Forged internals, a diesel-tranny that takes one-hellofa *** whipping, a proven blower that you can up the boost on to 14lbs w/o issue ( I know, I did), the best, and I mean BEST intercooler factory made. It is a great truck.
As far as over-rated, I made 353 @ the wheels stock, not even a filter in it. Far from over-rated. If I were to buy a Ford again, the only, ONLY one I would buy is a Lightning. I made over 410rwhp when I sold it.
