Default lifters? piston slap? or rockers? or all of teh above?

this is my dads 2004 cc 5.3

only mods are a nelson tune, and a intake tube...

running super rich, and making this crazy noise... to me from all teh piston slap videos ive seen, and such it sounds like piston slap... or teh rockers or both? also this thing is louder than my cammed truck...

my dad thinks lifters... but

a local shop, not my fav place thinks it could be all 3 things...
im gunna pull teh plugs as well tomorrow to see if theres damage to teh plugs or?

it goes away after it warms up but thats probly 20 to 30 mins later...
oil looks fine...

First thing I would do is pull the valve covers and inspect. You can run the engine with them off also. Sounds like valvetrain to me. Poss wiped out lifter and cam. Ive seen that twice at the dealer.

Wow. I have heard piston slap however I feel yours is a bit more serious. Also at 16 seconds (remaining...since your vid "counts down") I think I hear detonation as you rev the motor. Anyone else hear that?

An easy way to tell if ifs coming from the piston is pull the plug wires one at a time. that might be easier than backing off rockers to check the valve train.

Piston slap is more of thud, yours sounds more like a tink, or tapping of a small hammer. I had a car that had a small screw stuck in the top of a piston and hit the head every revolution (fell down the carb), it sounded like your video.

How messy is that? I am planning on trying it.

Yes, and early in the video, too. Both times when he moves the gas pedal very quickly at idle.

I burnt up 2 rod bearings in a 88 4 cylinder toyota pick-up and thats exactly what it sounded like plus some added back firing, and of course very little compression.
