Why not run the Comp stock replacement lifters? I shift my L92 head/block 416 Vette at 6800 and in the current/past motor setups I've never had a problem with them.

would this account for lifter noise? i have a constant tick when cruising on the highway. i have a 6.0 with 62cc heads and ls7 lifters with 7.4 pushrods.

I would pull a valve cover and use a pushrod checker to see if your pushrods are the proper length.

eh, it runs good just makes a little noise. as far as i know its just aftermarket cam and springs. and infact now that i think about it, it might be the dual springs i've never had before.

You must measure your preload. YOU CANT COPY SOMEONE ELSES SETUP. PERIOD! never ever ever ever EVAARRRRR. I can't stress that enough.

As far as the OP goes, lifters never go bad. Only rollers wear out. Lifters can usually always be serviced by taking them apart and cleaning them. The only reason a lifter would collapse is either from poor fit (too much lifter bore clearance), not enough oil pressure (pinched o-ring or weak pump), or dirt stuck in the plunger not allowing it to travel.
