Default Which lifters?

The engine is a stock 346 shortblock and WCCH stage 2 5.3s. It is going to be a very mild setup. Not looking for a "max effort" engine, just something with a little more than normal, and an FLT 4L60e behind it. Probably going to put Efans and definately a full exhaust, too.

The cam will be a short duration (208/210 .560/580, somethnig in that range, because I want a very low power band, and high torque) if I go with GM lifters. My question is if I use the Rhoads lifters, will I be able to use a cam with a little bit more duration (214/216, with the same lift, approx.) and not sacrifice the bottom end torque?

Also, are those lifters any more a pain in the *** (higher fail rate, require more maintenance), becuase of how they operate?

For what you are saying there ... I'd stick with stock ones.

I know that the stockers will be just fine, but will I be able to get 5 or 10 more HP on the top, without sacrificing the bottom?

Comp "850" Lifters, they are a stock style replacement, none of the hassles that the "R" lifters have had. If you are intersted let me know, I have a set for sale.
