There's no reason to "build" the lq4/9. Just get a cheap lq4 and drop it in. Add cam if you really want to, swap in a 14bolt and beat on it. I'm always pleasantly surprised at the amount of power the 6.0 motors make with basic bolt ons, the LQ4's are cheap and a dime a dozen at under 1000 dollars.
The dished pistons are always a bonus if you ever want to go with a mild FI setup. I'm super happy with my swap, I was all ready to sell this thing and go get a 2500 truck. I'm really happy I didn't.

Your gunna have a blast in a 4wd. IMO a gear swap would help a lot. Especially with a cam and 4wd. Ypu have to remember the 4x4's have more rolling mass when locked in. I have a 5.3 in my k5 and it has an ls6 cam and I hate it. It doesn't make power till 3500rpm and my truck weighs 6500#s make sure you do your research on the cam!

When I say build, i don't exactly mean that I'm trying to pull 500 HP out of it. Just want a setup unique to myself. Idk exactly what I'm gonna do for it yet. Still a plan in progress.

On another note, I'm pretty excites to get into a 4wd. I think its gonna be a lot of fun. My regency was beginning to get me in quite a bit of trouble, so much temptation. Everyone and their brother tried to race me, guessing it was the 3200 stall with the slp lm2's making them think it was fast or something lol

I don't want to go fast in mine. I wanna find a toy later down the road for that.

I love having 4WD! Just wish it wasnt so much heavier and harder to get rolling when locked in.

I actually went down in time in the 1/8 mile because the cam I put in looses just enough from idle-2500. Now if I had an aftermarket converter that would be a different story.

I've hurt some feelings off the line on the street though lol. Spinning AINT winning!
