No, I think the radius is too big. Can you take a picture of that sprocket from the rear side?

What scares me, is that I see no concentric rings like that anywhere on the timing sprocket.

It looks like pieces of a valvespring. Are you running dual springs? I had the inner spring in my car break and the outer spring was the only thing controlling the valve events.

Then again, the springs don't have any machining marks on them, the pieces I found do. I'm starting to think it may be a cracked lifter cup. I picked up a used LS7 lifter from a local vendor and will compare pieces to the lifter tonight. We'll see what I find.

When I installed the new crank sprocket, I used my old one to knock the new crank sprocket into place with my big hammer. While doing this, the hammer slipped and struck the teeth on the old sprocket causing it to shatter. I never did find the pieces after that happened. I can't remember if I had rags jammed in the pan or not while doing this. I did however save the sprocket for whatever reason and pulled it out for comparison. Do the metal bits I found, look like they would be from the sprocket that cracked? The oil looks clean that came out of the truck and doesn't have any glitter or sheen to it. Also, I have a hard time believing the truck would run as good as it does if I had a cracked piston where it lost a piece of ring material. Here's my old sprocket that broke compared to the pieces I found. Do you guys think this is where the pieces came from?

This looks like it matches perfect to me. I think you'll be fine.

They look similar but upon further inspection I cannot see any machining marks in the original crank sprocket as I can in the pieces I found. I'm thinking it's a lifter at this point. Time to start shopping for some new cylinder heads. This aughta be fun..... Where's the "**** money away" emoticon? This will have to do for now:

this is one of those where you say " Honey, my motor messed up, I HAVE to get a whole new one with special parts so it doesnt do this again. You know we need our vehicles to be dependable for you and the kids."

Works errrr time.

LoL If I do that, then I get the whole "Well if you wouldn't have touched the goddam thing in the first place this would have never happened" speech. Heads will be coming out of my personal stash. Other misc charges will go to the joint account
