1.5 hours to get the valve covers and waterpump off??? plenty of beer breaks huh.....don't move the condenser it stays where it is....all you hvae to do is unbolt the radiator so that you can pull it up and pull it out of the way while you remove/insert the cam. springs will take a little while, usually does for me but last time i had a buddy do'em instead and i worked on the cam part while he did that and it didn't take to long.

Draining the radiator, cleaning everything up, taking pictures and nots for the tech article I'm gonna put together. I think I made great time. Shops typically charge 4 hours for a swap, I think I'll be done at that pace all things considered. No beer breaks, Just came off nights, got up at 12:30 started at 1:00, finished at 2:30, downloaded pics and made a post for you guys.

Cool Greg, I'll be watching this one so that I know what to do when I swap a new cam in mine. BTW, whatever happened with the tech article page idea?

Go ahead and swap the valve covers for your whipple install. It will save you the time of unbolting the coil packs and valva covers in the future. It won't hurt anything to do it now. Go ahead and use the PCV extension that comes with the kit.

Heck, while you are in that deep, you should go ahead and install the whipple. Winter is nearing and thats when it runs its best. It really is a fast install. You can install just the compressor without the whipple computer and the truck runs just fine as long as you dont wind it up real high. Actually, I bet you can lower your shift points to the 5000 range and be OK without the whipple aux injectors. I installed the whipple in about 6 hours the first time, including the computer. About 2 weeks later, I pulled off the computer and wished I hadnt wasted the time on it in the first place.

Good choice in cams. Readily available, cheap, and makes good power.

A blown, sprayed, cammed 4.8 might give you the right to use FAST 4.8 as a handle.

Oh yeah, AC condenser stays put. Have someone hold up the radiator during the actual cam swap (or gently set it up on the intake0. If you have a trans cooler, you may have to pull the lines off the radiator.

The radiator is already out since I am doing it myself. As for the Whipple......let's say the mail lady hasn't been given the package to deliver. J O H :p N So I don't have the pcv extension. Oh well, I was wondering about that today since the Whipple sits where the oil filler is. Looks like a nice job for Greg Jr. to learn a little bit.

3 Jaw Gear puller and a BIG OLE breaker bar. Once you get it moing its easier. Still pretty tough though.
