Default leaking header gasket?

it sounds like a leaf blowing in the wind. I got my Y pipe welded up completely, and got flanges installed on my headers. And the sound is still there, so I'm thinking my stock gaskets arent cutting it, and should get another set of OEM ones and put them on. Is that what a header flange leak would sound like?

its only when im giving it more than half throttle, and when its at WOT, it sounds horrible.

So your saying that new flanges were put on your headers??, If thats the cases are you sure they were welded on strait. Was they leaking before you did the changes???

yes it was leaking before i got the work done. as far as i can see the flanges look great. Theyre welded up good and have gaskets and everything. But i can see trace amounts of carbon around some of the flanges up on the block, so thats where i think its leaking.

I had a similar problem with my stock gaskets. I used felpro gaskets and I sprayed some high temp cooper gasket maker on the gaskets, no leaks now!!

Ill have to pick that up at work today haha
did it fix it completely? because i think ive had this problem for a long time, including with my stock manifolds on.

But it is annoying to hate having my cutout closed because all i hear is exhaust leaks.

oh ya, how do u use the copper spray gasket? do i coat the gasket with it and let it dry, or do i need to put it on there while its drying.

I don't have any more leaks now after I replaced the gasket and sprayed the high temp cooper... It is easy to use just spray a couple of coats on the gasket until it is competely covered and Cooper looking then let it sit for a few minutes to tack up then slap it on...
