Default L9h swap cam recommendations

Hi to all,

Just signed up looking for some info from the cam gurus. Swapped an L9h (flex fuel L92) into a 2010 regular cab, 6l80, 3.73’s with
Speed engineering 1 3/4” longtubes and a tune from Lyndon Wester. Engine does have vvt, does not have afm. Truck runs good, has
a very strong bottom end, looking to trade some low rpm for some stronger midrange and an rpm limit of 6000-6200 rpm. Have been looking at the Tsp stage 2 high lift 212/218 .600/.600, 112 cam. Plan on sticking with the stock converter for now. Is this the cam I should go with? Thanks, Pat.

It wouldn't be a bad choice, that's for sure. That size camshaft is very common to use. With the cubic inches you have even going slightly larger should still be okay even with the stock converter. With the rough rpm limit you have in mind it would be a good plan.

Thanks for the reply FFDP.

I originally intended to go with a 218/224, .600/.600 but I am trying to be conservative on this one. There is nothing worse than overcamming an engine and having it not perform as well as it did before the cam swap. Been there many moons ago.

I do agree with you after having read your post that a little more may be the ticket. The truck with me in it is around 5000 lbs, but with the 3.73’s and the 6L80’s low 1st gear, I can afford to give up some more low end. Maybe a 218/224 is the right choice.
