L92 Head & Intake Conversion on a LQ9, is it possible?
#1
I did a little bit of searching but never really found out a real answer.
I have a 2006 Silverado Vortec Max LQ9 6.0L 2WD.
Is it possible to install a L92 Intake and a set of L92 heads on my LQ9?
I know the heads should bolt right up and will clear the bores but what about the intake, will it work with my truck?
Is it as simple as plug and play? Will all the LQ9 intake sensors, injectors, fuel rail, and TB bolt right up to the L92 intake?
With the good prices of a stock assembled L92 heads, L92 intake and a decent "small" cam (218 224 115lsa) I should make at least 60-70 RWHP over stock for around $1,400.

Fuel rails won't work without a lot of mods because of the big wide L92 intake
Injectors should, but stepping up to 8.1L inj would be better (24lb vs 30lb), check hole and o-ring diam also.
TB is 90mm on L92, might use adapter easier than converting from 78mm to 90mm.
Map sensor located up front on top, might need to extend wires.
Heads fit and raise compression slightly, 72cc vs ~70cc
This is all i can think of right now. With good tuning and a good exhaust system, it should make that and maybe a little more, IMHO.

depending on what intake and TB you already have you can get a set of Patriot stg 3's that actuall flow better than the L92's out of the box for $1295. Just something to consider. If you plan on porting the L92's then that's a no-brainer.

L92's flow 328/214 @.600
Patriot stg 3's flow 320/236 @.600 and are $1295 with great springs w/ titanium retainers and you can reuse your rocker assembly.
As I said, if you don't plan on porting the L92's and you have a good intake already then they aren't that great of a buy. You can save some money on the L92's though by buying them bare for $175 each and buying the valves, rockers, pedistals, seals + good springs seperately. That is what I did and I think I have ~ $850 in mine with Patriot Gold springs and rockers/ pedistal.
