Default L92 camshaft reco for 2007 awd denali / escalade

Building a 6.2 L92 motor for my 2007 Yukon Denali XL with 6L80 & AWD, 3.42 gears & 18 inch tires. Motor has forged MAHLE 10.2 pistons, H-beam rods and studded mains.

This is my do all vehicle. Wanted a VVT cam to give me more power and torque over the stock cam. (since I am buying a new cam - last one destroyed by bad lifter) - however, wanted to keep the vehicle driveable as a daily driver - of course concerned about part throttle and transmission lockup modes where the RPMs can get really low. Any experiance with this motor and its civility with a cam in the 215-218 duration range possibly offset by the size and high compression ? This vehicle is the long version of the denali - so it is a ground pounder weight wise.

Ive read cam grinders have been successful exploiting the VVT & using wide lobe spearation to get back some of the lost torque with a bigger grind/duration. This is a VVT L92 and does not have AFM/DOD. Was also looking at adding either a procharger OR LSA supercharger ebay takeoff in the future.

Any thoughts about this camwise ?
Was looking at the two smallish VVT cams from COMP
the Livernois L92 1C cam and the MAST 196-202 "truck cam" - but concerned if these are even a little to large for DD.
I was planning to get this tuned

Please advise - thanks Rick

Default VVT Cam

I have the L9H 6.2 it's a VVT motor, it's got the Comp Cam # 189-400-13
212/224 it's my DD. no prob on the street or towing. in the spring i am
doing a LSA install on it, setting it up for low boost, it has 10.5 comp.
you should call TSP for a custom cam, my next cam will be from them.
off the shelf cams leave a lot of HP on the table.

I am running the gpi vvt2trk cam in the l92 i swapped into my yukon and have no problems with it as a dd... still working on the tune and had a p0016 cam/crank correlation code pop up after the flood it was in, which i still need to adress as it is it had woken the truck up quite a bit, before the code popped up.... the cam is a 216/228 on 114+ 10lsa which is quite close to the same specs as the stage 2 ls3 cam i have in the 6.0 obviously without vvt my 99!

He problems are more related to swapping from a 5.3 to a 6.2 with the 6L80e and the hassles with that.

Just adding the cam will take tuning time, it all comes down to your ability to tune the vehicle. It may take several hours or a few days worth of tuning to dial in a new camshaft.

Yeah i did a lot more than just a cam swap, if youre just swapping in a cam it should be a lot more straight forward.... the cam i have has a nice smooth idle and even with the computer locking the actuator in the park position at the moment has plenty of power...
