Default L92 6.2 denali rebulid help

so i have this engine from a 07 denali witch i believe is the L92 6.2

the engine is at a machine shop we used a few times with good results for 5.3 and lq4 how ever im not sure on this engine beings its the aluminum block l92/ls3

i told him im looking to put this in my 04 rcsb and boost so i really dont want to bore the block unless i have to, his telling me i have to bore the block .020 even though he has never inspected it the block or even looked it over at this point his saying ALL of these aluminum 6.2 block's have to be bored regardless? i have others telling me not to bore a 6.2

so should? can you bore it and if so how much? looking to make 650 to 700 rear wheel HP on 10 to 15 pound single turbo or blower just just looking to upgrade the pistons and rods

so looking for advice on what to do here?

Not sure, never heard of it being a must to bore anything. A clean and ball hone sounds good enough to me.

Also the stock rods will handle 800+ rwhp, no need to spend any money there.

While it's there you could even have him swap reluctor wheels because your 04 truck uses a 24/1x combo compared to the GEN 4 58/4x.

from the start my plan was to swap the reluctor wheel less things to worry about or ad for the 58x wheel, thanks for the rod tip!

.020 over is max overbore for the 6.2. Pick another machine shop.

Mind if I ask what he quoted you. My 6.2 has 170,000 and is starting to consume oil so I would love to have it gone through and freshened up.

They make 4.075 and 4.080 but i would never use them.
4.070 is max before resleeving.
