street truck, not daily driven, ill be a the truck sometimes but mostly street.

needing suggestions on a cam, intake, and other bolt ons im forgetting.

A 6.0 would likely be cheaper than a LS1 as people think they worth gold. The 6.0 will have more torque as well.

A 212/218 size cam is good for a daily driver/street truck. You could go bigger but that's up to you and how much street manners you are willing to give up depending on cam choice.

Stock truck intake works great, good for torque.

03rcsbT56,

Already loving this build man. Do you plan to run a power adder? Have you located a block to start with? Looking for a stealthy cam or a rowdy sounding cam? More or less I take it you're building an all out N/A truck? Any chance you'll spray or boost it? Here to help however we can!

id love to procharge it as a long long term goal, but for now I'd like to keep it n/a. I wouldn't mind going ahead and building the motor towards some boost. It has a 4.8 in it now with a million miles. Give me some suggestions! I'm all ears

I'm doing the same thing you are. I've got my t56 swapped in already, probably take it to texas drivetrain performanc and have it level 3'd just for the wieght of the truck and extra torque of the engine. I'm building a lq9 .030 over with a btr stage IV truck cam and ls6 springs, mostly stock everything else in the engine. Right now its got headers, efans, a sloppy tune by me, 4.56 wit a tru track in the back. My engine should be right around 10:1 compression, I'm gonna file the piston ring gaps to about .019-.020 for some mild boost down the road. I'm just building a fun driver.

with the 4.56 and the first gear, it will spin a bit and then hook and go. the little 4.8 is pretty peppy with this combo, right now, plus going down the highway running 75-80, its at about 2000rpm. once i get the 6.0 in I might go down to a 4.30, but that would be as low as i go with the 31 inch tires.

i have a lq9 with a ls3 top end. Did the build two years ago about. I am running stock gears in the back and a 4l60e but that will change because i want a t56 in it as well and 4.10 gears. I will probably get the gears and posi done this year. My thread is black lsx if you want to look at the build. It pulls like a beast up top but lost just a shade down low since i am not running the truck intake and also have ls3 heads.
