So I came across a 1 owner 1998 K2500 with 83k original miles that is bone stock except for the lift kit which was dealer installed in 1997. No rot. Even has the original brake and fuel lines. Vortec L31 5.7, 4L80, and an open 14 bolt rear with 4.10s.
Problem is I'm use to my Suburban with a massive cam, heads, 3200 stall, and 4.88 gears (on and on) the K2500 just feels pathetic.
Want just a little bit extra without going nuts. I had a 96 and did a cam swap with a marine intake but the truck still was slow. lot of work for not much benefit.
Does anyone have any experience with the Whipple kits on these? Figured I'd buy a used one, dyno tune it and then leave the rest of the truck alone. End of the day I'd like it as a fairly quiet, tame cruiser with a little bit of grunt as well as not wreck the motor in it. Sure drop in a LQ4 and problem solved but honestly I would just like to throw on 6psi and be done. Has anyone had any long term experience with these under boost regarding survive-ability?
