Is your truck 4wd or 2wd?
Basically your truck is tuned for 93 oct, and when you put the 87 in it, the "dual tune" senses knock and retards the timing probably 8-10 degrees to the low octane table when you are brake stalling. That is the real cause of your problems IMO. I also assume you have 3.42 gears and in a CC that also makes it tough to spin em...I know lol.

Yeah that sounds about right. Gears for 2wd are fairly cheap so if you got that done, got your LT's on, then did a cam and converter you would be sitting in good shape. Probably low low 14's. I think if you added a transgo shift kit your tranny will probably hold up for a long time as long as you dont put any nitrous to it.

oooh so the shift kit will help? i thought it increased line pressure? yea i wanna keep the stock tranny as long as i can except the converter of course. so an oil cooler and shift kit huh.. im gonna tell jesse to lower the shift pressure back to stock for now.. especially if im going to get the shift kit.. i heard they are kinda hard to install bc of all the parts. is there any kinda atf i can use to help?
as far as a cam i still kinda want a tr 220 112 with that i would need a 3200 stall right? or should i get something a little more mild?

Hell yeah it will, you will have to bring the pressures back to stock with a shift kit. But the fact that it firms and quickens the shifts actually helps the tranny. The oil cooler I've put on my last two trucks is from B&M and it runs about 40-50* cooler than my buddies truck w/ no cooler, that helps alot I'll post a link. I dont think there is any atf you can use, just keep it clean, Ive heard of guys putting magnets on their pans and that catches any metal debris that may be floating around.
The TR220 is ****** badass cam. I love it, but it may be a little much for a CC. I had it in my 03 GMC ECSB with a 3200 stall and we just put 1 in my buddies 00 rcsb and its ok on the stock converter. You will definatly need a 3200 stall with it in a CC though, I wanted to put it in my truck but since its lifted and I'll be towing with it I cant have that big of a stall. The gt2-3 is a good choice b/c you can run it on a stock stall and still have great power. Plus it is a great blower cam so if that is the direction you eventually want to go then it will save you $$$ in the long run. If plan on staying N/A then a 216/220 would be the biggest I'd go.

-or you could avoid the whole thing and get a nice aftermarket converter and call it a day...
