Unhappy killed the 5.3

I have a 2001 silverado 1500 2wd, with a 5.3 auto. The other day it came a big rainstorm and i got stupid and drove through a bunch of water and the motor ingested a bunch and as best as i can figure, bent a rod or something of that matter. At any rate the motor wont turn over a full revolution. Since the motor was gonna have to come out anyway, i was just gonna swap in a 6.0. how much work would that be? could i just swap it in and go? or would i need to change the computer? I live in a smog test area so does anyone know if it would still pass? any help would be greatly appreciated...

ok, if you get an 01 or newer 6.0 it should pass emissions (check local laws), if its just a visual inspection you will pass. 6.0 should be an easy swap. if not, you could always drop the money on an eagle 4.000 crank, and some .030 or more pistons for your 5.3 with lunati billet rods...

everything will swap over alt ... But your going to need to get it tuned, eather a custom dyno tune, which i think is the bet way to go. Its about 400-500. Or get a mail order tune from nelson or wait4me tune. I did a 6.0 swap and now with just exhast and intake make 330 rwhp and 370 ft lbs.

everything will swap over and the 5.3L tune will work and will still pass emissions, for optimal performance get it tuned

HAHAHA.....this sounds like my brother about a year ago!!! Except for he bent a rod and threw it out the block. He had a big hole in the side of the #8 cylinder.

Its not hard to throw a 6.0 in just basically remove the old and put in the new. You will need a tune to make it run right.

Did you by chance, try pulling the plugs and then turning it over?

You must weigh well over 5000 lbs to be running 14's on that setup
