I know not many have the 8.1L, but I can tell you for the people that do, definatly install the CAI on this motor. I know it specs out from K&N at 17hp at 4500rpm, but holly crap what a difference in throttle response. The truck responds totally different now - Im impressed!!!!

 

Alot of people do not like it because of not much of a power increase for the mone, but like you said you get a whole lot better throttle response. It worked great on my truck also.

 

Yeah, I have a 04 ECSB with a 4.8L, dual 3" exhaust and the k&n and that truck i was impressed at the response also. It amazes me that chevy doesnt make/use a better air intake system. the baffels in the stock ones, restrict these motors to much.....LET IT RIP CHEVROLET!!!!!
