a thermostat will make no differents on the amount of time it takes for the heater to "heat up", unless it leaks. It will lower the overall temp of the coolant thus lowering the amount of heat (down to 160* from 190) available at the heater core.

The thermostat opens sooner, allowing the coolant to flow through the engine and heater core sooner. I've always noticed my heat coming up sooner in all of my vehicles after switching to a 160 stat...

yes it opens sooner, at 160* instead of 190*... o I ment there is no way a colder thermostat cold take longer to "warm up" Poor wording in my first post... You are correct.

Probably worth mentioning that you may have to tune going that cold with the T-Stat.

Going from 195 to 180 with my 3.8L motor really messed up the cal. Gas mileage went in the dirt. 160F probably would make it even worse.

Just an FYI.
