I'm sure that's true about the cooler air. I just can't believe how much of an overall difference it made though. The truck's much snappier throughtout the entire RPM range.
I notice the same tremendous difference just in changes in outside temps. When its 75* or so outside the truck is sick. At 95* it feels like Im driving a dump truck.
I see you have an intercooler, how big is it?

budhayes3: thanks! so am i

SSlow4.8: yeah i don't like that top piece either but oh well. I just won't pop my hood that much until i get some more eye candy to help take the focus away. What's wierd is that the ram air is supposed to take air from behind the grill but it has to come underneath the plastic and that's a pretty small opening. It can't possibly let all that much in but who knows. Maybe at speed the air forces the plastic up a little and it gets in there. I can say that it works better for me than my K&N setup.

That's so true about the temperature! We actually got up to 124* one day this summer and my truck was hurting. I kept hitting the gas and getting really pissed. Didn't think to look at the temp reading at 1st but after getting mad a few more times i saw how hot it was and stopped beating up on my baby.

The intercooler measures 35"x11"x3" and is a bar and plate. I'm doing all the piping today or tomorrow in anticipation of the computer showing up. I've got the blowoff valve mounted with the recirculation tube already setup. It should look pretty good all polished up under the hood.....anything to take away from the huge scoop.

it dosent look like its installed right?? im probably wrong but everything ive heard says that you have to remove that little cover that has all the belt configurations on it. then the intake is suposed to rotated clockwise letting the ram air scoop sit right behind the grille in front of the radiator. i also heard that that little detail was left out of the install instructions.

if im wrong just tell me to . pictures arent at the best angles so i cant really see whats going on.

You are suppose to take that plastic off. My buddy's 03 rcsb is actually the one that VRKC used for their advertisement(the one where it has a black rcsb with 20" Maxim 6's doing a burnout with an ss front bumper cover they are made near where I lived in Texas). That plastic piece is suppose to be removed in order to let the air that it scoops up behind the grille to be rammed in to the air fiolter I dont know whether or not it is in the instructions though.

I installed the same setup several months ago with a few minor mods. The instructions didn't say to remove that large plastic cover so I ended up trimming the small lip off it and spaced it up about 1/4-1/2 and inch where it feeds the scoop. At road speed, the the air should move through there pretty easily. I also used the factory tray below the airbox. I cut a whole for the lower air inlet to go through and rubber mounted the new box to that. I didn't like the way the new airbox just kinda hung there. I ended up using the Truflow tube from the airbox to the TB. No hard numbers, but did notice a seat of the pants improvement over the Truflow.

Thanks guys for pointing out the removal of the plactic. I kinda thought it was a little weird but the instructions didn't say to do it and i figured that would be something pretty major to leave out. Looks like i'll go take it off and see if it's any better. Can only get better from here right?!
