Question Just Ordered A 6.0

Its a 2005 6.0 that came out of a Chevy Express van.

Heres the question...

The 2005 came with ETC (electronic throttle control) or DBW (drive by wire)
i do not want this so the place i bought the 6.0 from is putting on an older 6.0 intake mainifold that was cable driven on the motor. This will take care of that issue correct?

Also the seller said sometimes the PCM's are locked he wasnt sure if mine was.
I am getting a tune, can a tuner unlock a locked PCM or should i just get a nelson tune and get a new PCM?

Thanks

The intake swap is all that is needed to run a cable-throttle...you've got that covered

Most tuners can unlock a PCM, if it's a stock PCM it'll be unlocked already. On another note though....a 2005 PCM won't work in anything below '05, you'll probably have to use your stock PCM with the 6.0 and have it programmed

The engine is coming complete.

Can i just unplug the 05 PCM and plug in mine?
The reason im asking is because i do not want to remove the wiring harness off of the 05 engine since it is coming already attached..

Also I think the vans come with an 4l80e. Will this motor bolt up to the 65e?

Thanks.

It is MUCH easier to remove the harness off a new motor than it is to remove the one from the truck. Just keep the one in the truck. Swap motor for motor, don't change the electronics. You will need a new flexplate for the tranny....I have a stock one from a 4L65E that I need to get rid of, BTW....if you're interested PM me.

I agree 100%. If your truck is a V8, use our wiring and PCM. I sold my wiring harness that came with my 6.0L on here for $75. You can use a cable throttle body on a DBW intake, you just have to insert the threaded bungs into the manifold where the cable bracket mounts, as it takes 3 bolts and the manifold only has threads for 1. I ran mine with just one for a few days until I could epoxy some threaded inserts into the manifold. Actually, I think the Express Van's still have the cable driven T/B, but I'm not 100 percent on that. You may also have to change the driverside fuel rail and balance tube, I did. I also had to get vacuum for the fuel rail mounted regulator from the other side of the manifold. No biggies.

did a swap in a buddies truck that had a cable TB. all ya need is the drivers side rail for the FPR, crossover tube, and like BADMOFO said, the threaded inserts for the brackets.

I still need this even if the VANS intake manifold was replaced with a 2002 trucks that already is driven by a cable?
