Default Just installed 42lb injectors and Nelson PCM

Getting my truck ready for the whipple install next week and just finished this prep part......1st note on changing injectors:

What a PITA!!!! But it's done. Chilton's Manual just says, unplug injectors, unbolt fuel rail and remove. Then it mentions something about a "fuel injector assembly removal tool".....

Once into it,,,,you start figuring things out and finding a way to get r done. I used a flathead screwdriver to pop that clip on the injectors enough to wiggle them off the rail. I took the rails off before removing the injectors and removed them in a much more comfortable position on the garage floor. Worst part of this mod is working on engine in the truck in an uncomfortable position........and uhhhhh keep on eye on those damn O-rings that connect the fuel lines to the fuel rails. One popped off and flew under the engine.....I thought I was soooo screwed. I needed my truck for work in th morning. I ended up hi-jacking an O-ring from one of the removed injectors.

I took pics and notes. If anyone has questions PM me. About 3-4 hrs of work....counting 30 min to look for that damn O-ring.....

Changed the PCM...done that before a few times....5 min.

Took a test ride. Idle was low, between 300-400. I had to keep a foot on the gas to keep it going at the red lights. Then I stopped to get something and started it up again and idle bounced up to about 500-600. I didn't get down on it cuz Allen set it for the whipple and said to take it easy b/c it'll run a little rich w/o the whipple.

Next whipple prep job....flip those valve covers.... Anyone done this yet?? Any tips?

the valve covers are a easy to flip, just make sure the valve covers and heads are clean for the re install. The hardest part putting the whipple on is removing the crank bolt. Other than that its a cake walk. good luck

I won't have to worry about the crank bolt...I have the single belt version which uses the original crank pulley. I figure everything I'm doing now will be harder than actually bolting on the whipple,,,,but hopefully all worth the effort. I'm sure glad I ain't messing with whipple craptronics....looks like another PITA in the manual..
