Default Just how bad??????

i would like to know just how bad this is possibly hurting my times, i went today to the lsx turkey shootout in shrevport, la and had a best run of 13.21 @ 101 with a 1.8x 60'
setup is a ls1 intake with throttle body and maf staright out in front. i know that the maf is really really hot when i touched it. i just pulled up from a run hurried up and stoped and poped hood as fast as i could then ran up front and raised the hood and touched the TB all as fast as i could and it was really hottttt. during the summer allen @ nelson performance told me that i was loosing alot of timming when he rode with me tuning it. also today it was around 70* with around 80% humidity i have no clue how to figure density altitude i know there about 300ft in elevation

it's loosing/pulling timing b/c of the high air intake temps.
take that setup off and put a cai.

I have seen that set up in restomod hot rods with LS motors but i think its just the easiest at that point, go for some kind of CAI. EBAYs the way, well in this case maybe.

do a CAI and you might be interested in wrapping the intake tube with fiberglass header wrap like I did. I dropped my IAT's about 20* during summertime having the wrap on there. If you're getting say a 100* IAT it pulls about 4-6* of timing depending on what the tune commands. It's worth every penny

i agree that it could be hurting you. once you get a CAI, pull out your headlight during the run to get some fresh air to that think. my IATs were like 20* cooler when my tuner recorded them at the track when the headlight was out.

Your not alone!!!!

I'd imagine that MAF is cooking, a CAI might actually put down the advertised numbers with your set up. Not only is it devouring under hood air temps, but heat soaking that motor bigger than ****.
