well my bro just got a new truck..2001 silverado.it is used and the salesman told us that it was the 5.3 motor in it. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" /> how can i make sure of it?

and can anyone suggest an intake for this truck? its got some nice kick to it it could just use a little more motivation

im guessing its the same as on any other car..open up the intake and exhaust and it will make more power but its not my car so i doubt it will get much work done in the performance category

and anyone selling a intake for this truck? id rather buy used <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

See if the eighth digit of the VIN is T.

5.3 vortec: Other than the emisions sticker under the hood; I believe there is a suffix in the vin#.

I test drove a 4.8 and the 5.3; couldn't tell any diff by looking at the two. The 5.3 definatly had more *** though. I ended up with the 5.3 Z71.

These things have tons of of low end w/awsom gas mileage.

UPD is a greag intake. dont know how many peopel are selling used ones, but they work great. they bolt up to the stock airbox base. uses the same size filter as stock. and it has noticable increase in power.

First, you can look at the lables under the hood right there on the radiator cover. It will have belt, spark gap, emmisions and engine info there.

Here are your RPO codes:

L35: 4.3L V6 Gasoline Engine SCPI
LM7: 5.3L V8 Gasoline Engine SFI GEN III
LQ4: 6.0L V8 Gasoline Engine SFI GEN III
LR4: 4.8L V8 Gasoline Engine SFI GEN III

Just look in the glovebox for them. You can also look at all of them and check them with my RPO page in my signature to find out all the info on your truck. As far as an used intake, keep looking in the classifieds and here.

so i drove the truck today and damn i love it..i wish i had one..hehe

it doesnt feel as fast as my car but from a 40 roll it feels STRONG!!! the 5.3 is a super smooth motor and the power is nice..i think once i get a CAI put on it it will really pull hard..

so far im thinking either a CAI and cutout or CAI and dynomax bullet
