So I changed the lifters out on my 2008 Silverado w 5.3 but I didn't put the truck in neutral when I hand turned the engine w a socket and torque wrench to get to TDC while tightening the rocker arms. Now it sounds like the starter is turning the fly wheel but the engine isn't turning
Over. Just a high pitch wind. Did I break the bolts on the flywheel? Thanks for any advice

you dont have to put the transmission in neutral when turning the engine with a socket/breaker bar.
can you still turn the engine with a socket on the crank bolt?
is the starter hitting that flex plate pretty hard and not getting anywhere? you starter should make a good amount of noise if it's actually hitting. check to make sure that you re-attached ALL grounds to the back of the heads.

Do you have compression? pull a valve cover and see if the valves are opening and closing as you turn it over.
Silly question... but did you double check all the electronics? As the plugs connected? Are the coils plugged in? Injectors pluged in?
Air, fuel, spark... its gotta be one. See if you can narrow it down to which.

I'd swap them to keep them on the same side... not sure how they are wired or if it will matter, but if you are sure that everything else is plugged in correctly then it can't hurt.
