Default it's alive!! now how do i tune for a BIG cam?

time to do some research, got to learn how to tune for this cam.

truck fired right up and idled for a few seconds, then got real lumpy and died. i uped all the idles with edit by 300rpm's so the min is now about 900rpm, still wont idle. i can hold it up around 1100rpm and it will idle ok but gets kinda wierd when i shift it in and out of gear. i knew it would need some "tuning" just dont know what that means exactly, anyone have any sugestions?

it it sooooo nice to hear it run again, now i get to play with the laptop and not wrenches for awhile.

I wanna know too. I should have mine running this week, and I will need tuning also. I asked this over in the pcm section and didn't really get an answer. I have read that you need to scale the 1st 3 rows of the VE table by about 80% to make it idle. I guess that makes sense 'cause the bigger cam is gonna have less idle vacuum and you have to lean it down some way or it will be way too rich. Might try that and see.

Raise your timing a few degrees in the 1200 and under rpms in both tables. Obviously raise your idle timing. You'll also need to modify your main VE table in the lower rpms to asjust fueling. Depending on how it acts with quick jabs to your throttle, you may need to adjust your Idle Air table.

big cam tuning... thats a good thread parish8. you beat me to it.

BigTex, can you elaborate a little on this:
Depending on how it acts with quick jabs to your throttle, you may need to adjust your Idle Air table.

Yea .. which way does the idle air tuning need to go ... another question ...

WTF do we do if the TB doesn't have a hole in it to start with to enlarge. What should we adjust in EDIT to make it think it 'has a bigger hole' in the TB blade?
