Quote:When ordered through a GM dealership, the 4L65-E has a list price of $2,595, not including the necessary controller. We're told an inclusive kit is on the way, but in the mean time, you'll have to use the L60 controller (PN 12497316).
Is this not the price? How much cheaper are we talking?

the only difference between the 4l60e and 4l65e internally is the 5 gear planatery if i remember correctly. i had the 60e stock, and when my trans was built had the 5 gear planatery installed....never had any trouble with it and it shifted nice and firm.

If I read correctly most of us shift around 6000 rpm or so. It looks like the 65 has its ratings based on the lowered shift points compared to the 60's. "compared with the 4L60-E, the maximum shift speeds for each gear change is lowered from 6,100 rpm to 5,600 rpm." It does have some hardened parts in it and all, but I shift at 6200 with my new cam, so It doesnt look like this would work very good for me.

4L65s come in the all-wheel drive SS and the 4-wheel drive Hummer. If it is for a 4wd or a Awd the output shaft and tail housings are different, if my memory is correct.
