Intercooled Whipple info...
#1
Here is what they e-mailed me...
"The intercooler will be a very good addition to our s/c kit for those
vehicles, as they sit now they don't need an intercooler but there will
definitely be a power increase when the intercooler is available in about a
1 to 1 1/2 months.
Thanks

I hope they do come out with one.If they do,I'll be getting one for sure.Wish we knew some info on the design.I wonder if it's going to be air to air or water to air? They do this and they'll sell a ton and make alot of people happy...myself included.Did he give any idea on what it might cost??

I'd figure they will be about the same as the 8.1 intercooler. It will be an air to water intercooler. Mounts off to the top side.
Apparently it will be adaptable to older Whipple designs too.
I like the Whipple much better than the Radix. The twin screw is far more efficient, makes more power, and is a bigger compressor. BUT the damn thing is a hot air blower. 6psi in this 95*+ Texas heat is going to detonate down to nothing with all the timing pulled, won't catch me spending $4000+ for very little power gains.
Now if you could adapt a Kenne Bell twin screw to a radix system, a la Lightning...

This is for the 4.8/5.3/6.0L kits? I was going to do my own air/water intercooler (probably still will
) I won't have the funds before this one comes out though if it is in only 2months, so it will be good to see how they route stuff.
I have a pretty good guess as to how they will be doing this if the intercooler clears the hood on top of the intake manifold. They will probably sell a new bottom mount to the SC that will direct the air up to the intercooler instead of to the side to the TB. It would be $ for Whipple to do this because most of the parts they already have from the 8.1L kit.

Yes it is for the 4.8-6.0 kits as the 8.1's can be ordered intercooled already.
Like I said prior, I believe it will be setup very silimar to the 8.1 kit. Similar or same parts, install procedure, etc.
