Default intake?

i've heard from some people that the K&N drop in air filter adds more power than the CAI. is this true? and how much power would it add if any?

it hardly adds enough on the v8 trucks to notice, but i wouldnt doubt that a dropin would help more than a k&n cai, becuase the cai is an open element type but a close element would be better than the dropin

maybe 5hp gain

an intake helps more on the v6 trucks than on the v8 version

ok an aftermarked closed element one would help but the k&n drop in will be better than the cai correct? and would cutting a hole in the airbox with the k&n drop in help more?

yes in order of performance gain:

1.closed element cai - volant, outlaw, GMPP, etc.
2. k&n dropin filter + 4" hole in air box
3. k&n cai
