Default Installing the tranny cooler. Quick question

I have to get this permacool tranny cooler installed before this weekend! One quick question. I don't have the external cooler, just the in radiator setup, so should I just bypass that all together? I connect to the hose going into the top, then go through the permacool, then connect back to the bottom hose, right? Thanks guys.

No, don't bypass it. Run it in a series. I believe the top hose is the fluid coming FROM the tranny, so take that one and connect it to the cooler, then take the other hose from the cooler and connect it to the top. You don't have to disconnect the bottom hose.

Yea, run it in series with the top line...rad to aux cooler, aux cooler to trans line.

Got to looking at it. It's going in the shop tonight to get this done. So, what you guys are saying is that the tranny fluid goes through the cooler first, then through the radiator? Anybody got any pics for me to check out. Anything to make this go as smooth as possible.

I think I'd install it the other way, with the trans fluid hitting the radiator first, then going through your aux cooler and back to transmission. That way the coolant temp won't raise your trans temps before heading back.

Hmmm...does it make that much of a difference? If so then I think I'm going to swap the hoses.

Yep, that's the way mine is...top line is the return, so it goes through the rad first, then the aux cooler, then back to the trans. I don't have any pics though.

Top line isn't the return. The top line is the fluid coming from the trans, the bottom hose goes back to the trans. What I think BigTex means is he didn't disconnect the top hose, just the bottom one and connected the aux cooler to the bottom(outlet) and then took the bottom hose and connected it to the other side of the aux cooler. Right?

Yeah... Connect the cooler in between the bottom trans line and the radiator. Then the aux cooler will lower the temps before it goes back into the trans.

Even with a Tstat, my truck still runs 190-200*. If the trans fluid goes through the radiator last, it will sending those temp fluids back. If your truck ever has electric fan issues and overheats, your transmission will get well over 200* too.
