Default Installed my Magnaflow catback....

I got #15778 side-exit 3 inch with 4inch tip with a 22" muffler for my 5.3L ECSB '04 truck. Some people had said the 22" muffler is too quiet, well it certainly isn't with the 3 inch plumbing.

It sounds good especially winding it out. There is a bit of drone around 2000rpm, though I had that with the stock system too. It has a very nice, deep tone and I'm happy with the sound and quality of the system. The muffler is mirror finish and the 4 inch tip with engraved 'Magnaflow' looks sweet sticking out the side.

Getting the stock exhaust out without cutting it was a bitch as I only had ramps and a jack to get the truck up high enough to get the exhaust out clearing the rear axle. That said it only took 2 hours start to finish.

I got the system for $377 shipped from http://www.fle-online.com/
Service was excellent and they shipped the system first thing Monday as I ordered on a Saturday. It arrived Thursday morning.

I don't have pictures or videos because I don't have a digital video camera and my digital still camera has a dead battery.

I debated the duals, but it seems everyone here in Dallas, TX has duals, so I wanted a mean looking sewer pipe out the side instead. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong.

I would be interested in hearing if there is a tone difference between the 2.5 inch piping, but duals, and the smaller Magnaflow muffler versus the larger 3 inch pipe, but single and larger muffler that I got.

Glad that you liked it. That drone rigt about 1.8k-2k is pretty common on magnaflow but its not noticeable to where it bothers me.

The drone around 2k doesn't bother me either. It's not bad and even my stock '04 exhaust had a bit of drone at that rpm level.

If a sound bothers me, I call it resonance. There is no resonance with this system.

the drone is pretty much due to the length of the tail pipe on our long azz extended cab trucks. thats what my research has pointed to.

oxider has told me the cause of my droning problem, i have 2.75 inch piping exiting a 3 inch muffler, so the quick reduction in pipe size causes the resonation to be worse.

i think i will go get a 3 inch exit installed and have it dumped right after the rear axle next week. i will see what this does to the droning.

another idea is to install a magnaflow dual exit catback(nobody in so cal runs duals. lol) and also put PV venturi before the muffler.

ill probably dump it for a month or two then be ready to change it up again. lol i love changing exhasut

Jeff, let me know if you end up getting the Magnaflow duals. I'd like your impression on how they sound. I'm loving my Magnaflow catback so far, it sounds pretty mean around town, but tones down quite a bit rolling down the highway.
