I haven't even gotten to installing them yet. My winter beater needs maintenance first. I planned on taking pics of the install. I'll put them up on the site. I just wanted to get all my info in order before I start the project.

Those of you that installed this particular fan kit, where did you tap into for the switched ignition source?

Some brief instructions or brief description of problems you ran into while installing them would be cool too. You could put the pics and stuff on your website and put a link here to the info.

I'm thinking of doing the e-fans as well. When I do stuff like this, the best place is the fuse box under the hood. Since you will be in there anyway to tap into the AC, just find a unused fuse connection that is hot with the key, crimp a spade lug on the wire and stick it in the slot. There always seems to be a half dozen open slots in there.

Thanks everybody for the help. I've got the fans installed but they aren't operating properly. They work but not the way they should be. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> For those of you that are running these fans hopefully you can shed some light on the situation for me. Here is what happened when I followed the instructions. I turned the key to the run position and the LED that indicates the unit has power lit up. I then started the truck but after the 5-6 second delay the fans did not start. I also turned on my A/C and the fans did not come on nor did the LED's that indicate the A/C is running. The A/C lead was plugged into terminal #8 which is for a positive signal lead. I proceeded to unplug the A/C wire from the VSC and still nothing. Then I plugged it in to terminal #7 and the fans came on but I'm unsure at what speed. I let the truck warm up and waited for the t-stat to open to set the fan on temp but when I adjusted the little control nothing happened there either. What do you think might be the problem? Improperly wired A/C lead? I tied into the green wire under the A/C relay underneath the fuse block. Sorry this is so long.

Something sounds fishy. Are you sure you spliced into the right wire for the AC? I have a auxillary fan wired this way and it works fine. When you turned on the AC did it actually come on? (the AC I mean) Check your relay to be sure it is fully seated after you had the box apart. Double check all your crimps on the wires and lugs. Give them the a tug, you might have one loose in the connector and not making good contact.

Now that you have your new radiator and the fans installed, check this out:
Flex-a-lite has developed a new 27” electric fan for Chevy full size trucks

I have a call into Flex-a-lite about the 295s. I need something to fit the big radiator that comes with the 8.1s.

Tom, why would you go with less in the 295 versus the 282? If I read the specs it is about 20% less airflow.

I've been playing phone tag with one of the guys over there. Just checking on them for now and seeing if they are still working on something made specifically for our trucks (8.1s). If not I've been in touch with CJ and might pick up his brackets and try one of the 282s in my Silverado.
