Default Injector?

Truck has a misfire and the diag on it says it has a random misfire and an injector circuit failure.

My question is does this sound like a bad injector and how do you check to see if an injector is bad?

Do you just start unplugging them to see if it runs worse and then the one that doesnt change anything thats my bad one?

Is this on your 98 Silvy? I'm assuming its a GenI Vortec.

Sadly the injector body is a royal pain in the *** to work with. There is really no easy way to disconnect a single injector as all 8 connect to the same connector. However, checking that connector to make sure its on tight would be a good simple start.

If replacement is needed, replace all 8 with the updated GM Injectors. GM got rid of the original style which the injectors were housed in the upper intake then had a hose to each intake runner. The new style mounts the injector at the intake runner, while remaining totally plug-n-play.

Good luck.

Hey friend, if you go to your local GM Dealer (like me) we can put it on the Tech II Scan Tool and you can pulse each injector and monitor their performance.

I don't think it's an injector issue though. I'm leaning toward possibly a bad spark plug or wire. It can also remotely be an igniton module but I'm going with plugs and wires.

Or a burnt valve or bad lifter, hopefully a bad wire or something.

Since there are codes for both misfire and injector circuit failure, is it possible that there is an open wire in the harness to the injectors, or a wire terminal that's losing conatact?
