Default im a newbie, help me out

Ok guys, i just recently bought a 99 silverado SCSB, its got a 5.3 with a 70mm turbo on it, 60lb/hr injectors, LS6 Cam, LS1 heads, and 4L80 tranny. Only thing is, i got it cheap cuz it was popped. Buddy of mine who's real good with these (actually his old pickup in a roundabout way) said i should ditch the LS1 heads and go with stock ones, and go with a 3200 stall. It still has a stock verter in it. I trust his opinion but just lookin for anyone else's input. If it makes a difference, i just want it real streetable, and only planning on running around 8psi.

Welcome to the forum... thats pretty good advice. Is this your daily driver, or just a play truck? And how much power do you want to make? Could go up to a 3400 on the converter, but I probably wouldn't go any higher than that if your using it for a toy, the 3200 would get a bit better mileage around town but not a whole lot better. The stock heads will boost your compression back up, the ls1 heads have a larger chamber which will lower your compression ratio if they weren't milled. You can usually find a set of cnc'd 5.3 heads over on ls1tech.com pretty reasonable, will flow better than what you have and keep compression up. Go ahead and pick up a set of ARP head studs, bolts at the least, and a set of LS9 head gaskets if you ever plan to push it much. This will keep you from lifting a head. Also, I would put a set of LS7 lifters in while you have it apart.

Post up in the forced induction section and you will have better luck getting help with your truck having a snail

It'd be more of a daily driver. and i was planning on port and polishing the stock heads myself. So i'll still go that route with the heads. Since its gunna be more of a DD then a toy would a 2800-3000 be better?
