Yepp that makes 100% sense and i dont doubt it for a sec but my main words were "in the LONG RUN" indicating i meant up top in a racing situation!! As far as off road goes the radix would probably dominate the sts setup, but i was mearley stating for all around purpose, If his power goals were to be overall street raced/track and then go play in the mud on some narly trails( except rock climbing, thats a whole new meaning to off road). But none the less i wasnt saying that you were wrong in what you were saying

no dis or argument, i agree if he was looking for a race setup i would suggest thinking about a turbo, but from his post he is looking for low end power, and i'm assuming off road use.

work best for me? don't plan on being a drag truck . extra power to spin the 35's, down low.
just pointing out, in my opinion, the possible cons of sts, trying to give best advise and info for his needs.

As I recall the radix kits are doing more than this, besides that fact that they come complete with an intercooler, injectors, tuning, and a 3 year drivetrain warranty.

with the STS, you're stuck at 5 psi, until you buy bigger injectors, and you would probably want an intercooler, and if your tranny goes its on your own bill. granted you can go a lot bigger with a turbo (in terms of psi) but I don't think thats what he's looking for.

I'd go with the Intercooled ProCharger. 2 Core Intercooler 60 - 65% HP Gain. 8-9 PSI. I'm not knocking any other kits mentioned above and they have also proven great results. This is just my opinion as I have seen first hand the accomplishment of procharged Vehicles. For Example a friend of mine with an older 96 model Chevy Regular Cab rebuilt his factory motor to withstand 12 - 15 psi boost. The Truck went 13.40sec @ 103mph then after the procharger was installed went 12.05 @ 117mph. This truck is a daily driver and the times were on 17 inch Centerline wheels with some Nitto Radials (not drag radial). With some traction the truck would go deep into the 11s.

Good points youa re making.

About the procharger, I need the power down low and that type of SC winds up and makes its power up top for the most part.

Yes I do off-road, but nothing hardcore. Last time I took her out though I did get into about 5" of mud on a fire road. That is where I worry about the STS.

The truck is not going to be an all out race truck, I just want more power for it. The racing is left for the 96 Impala

One thing that I see as an issue that I have not been able to clear up with about the RADIX is dealing with the warranty. I have talked to some people and they say that they will only honor the warranty if the install is done at an ASE certified mechanic. I have done everything to my truck to date including headers, exhaust, intake, and even the lift. I don't see a reason why I have to spend $400-500 to have someone instal something that I can do myself, but I want the warranty for piece of mind. Anyone have the low down on the rules and stipulations of the warranty?

Would still like to hear other arguments, people have brought up some good points for and against each system!

TIA,

Troy

Check out the vids of the 'Yota guys wheeling their trucks on the STS site...

I'd probably go with a turbo if it were me. I'd look at a nice smaller easier to spool turbo.

The way I understand the Radix waranty, is that it's very picky - more picky than your local dealer. I believe you have to have the Radix as the only mod (engine/drivetrain mod?) on the truck, and the kit has to be installed by and authorized dealer.

PM BlownChevy, he works for Magnacharger and will be able to give you the specifics of the warranty.
