It all depends on what your towns/states laws are. In Mass they have tried to pass a state law but it keeps getting shot down. In my town they have put a noise ordinance in affect but there are only two meeters in the town. When I used to get pulled over and the cop would give me the run around, I would simply ask him what the meeter says???? Then when he would tell me that he doesnt have a meeter but his own discression was good enought I would pull out a copy of the law that I got from the town hall and show it to him. "See officer it clearly states that you must a meeter present to give me a ticket." They hated that. But now with the turbo setup I dont have any trouble. Its very loud, but I go to the station with fresh cider doughnuts, from my bakery, every saturday in the summer to greas the wheels

True duals are not illegal. No cats, illegal. If you had two cats, your set-up would be legal.
I would leave it alone. Just watch out for nearing cop cars. At that point you need to keep the throttle light or go to a coast.
If your going to change your mufflers to a single unit, then you might as well put you cats back on. The dual setup is not illegal. Even a dumped single 40 series flowmaster will be loud enough for that cop to tell you the same thing again.
Don't give in to the law!!!!!

I bet if it didnt come with true duals from the factory it is not legal. I was told the same thing on my 96 tahoe, it had 2 cats and 2 pipes all the way to the single muffler them 1 pipe out the side from the factory. The mufler shop wouldnt change it. It sure looked like true duals to me...except for the one muffler.

Well it all depends on were you live, and the laws around your area. In GA. you can pretty much do what ever you please especially in around my neck of the woods. Heck I had a friend with a 68 Camaro with a 400 SBC and he ran open headers around town for a month. hahaa Some cops are going to let it slide, and some others are going to complain. Personally I would might put my cats back on and let it ride, just to make sure your legal.

wow... i hate smart *** cops. Stick some cats back on there so if they happen to **** with you again, they cant give you a ticket for not being smog legal at least.
I love the cops in hall county here in GA. I'm on a first name basis with a lot of them and theres a turboed nissan 300zx that is a siezed vehicle one of them drives around, bunch of cool guys. Sorry you live around a bunch of doche bag cops
