Almost sounds like we should advocate for a "non-reusable" philosophy for that one, no?

I advocate for replacing. It's too cheap to be sloppy. With that said i've reused them a few times and never had an issue. it's a roll of the dice.

I checked and it doesn't really say that retaining plate must be replaced. I would agree with everyone else and say to just go ahead and replace it. IIRC, it's like $16 or something.

And the issue is that if leaks, you won't know it because it's behind the front timing cover, so you will probably never realize it's leaking and will cause oil pressure drop.

I did something dumb yesterday. I put some BTR valve covers with ignition mounts on my truck and had flipped the coil wiring harness where that side was “backwards”. When I started up the truck it was backfiring and running like a$$.

had to redo the everything in the truck cause I didn’t want to disturb the valve covers

I flipped the coil harness backwards when installing dominator EFI. You're not alone.
