Default IAT Resistitor Mod?

Got this in my email courtesy of ebay this morning:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...%3ASS%3AUS%3A1

Never heard of the IAT mod. I know of the resistor mod for some MAF's. If I could see the resistor values I'm sure I have one laying around. Snake oil? Probably so....

You can do it and it will work but.. our IAT sensors are built into the MAF so you will have to cut and splice into the harnes to the MAF to get it in there. Not worth it for the small gains you get, IMHO.

I tried it in an older truck - it doesn not work.

I used a resistance that tricked the computer into thinking IAT's were in the 40*F range (or something close to that). All I got was a motor that bogged when floored.

If that guy is only giving you the resistor - that's the biggest rip-off I have seen in a while. You can get a 8-10 pack of them at Radio Shack for like 69-cents.

Also, what I did to find out what resistance to use - I removed the IAT sensor, stuck it in the refridgerator for a few minutes, pulled it out, and read the resistance.

there is an article on this at install universtiy's webpage. not sure of the link off hand but they tested the same thing from SLP and found that they got KR from it. they also stated that they have seen it work on some cars and not work on other cars. i guess it's a hit and miss thing.

Pretty much useless. Especially for long term. The PCM will go around it. after a while.

Yeah, the computer will figure it out sooner or later. Also, it does nothing when the temp is around or below 40 degrees. Summer or warm weather it adds some throttle response but little else.
