Default I think I screwed myself...

I recently got a 22" Aerochamber welded in place of the 18" magnaflow, and the resonance is horrible

Anything above 2kRPM it sounds very good, but below that during normal cruising my freakin dash rattles it's so bad. Mid to WOT is good, but part throttle is just painful.

Here's the dilemma. I am going to have the pipe run to the factory exit location, but the muffler I have is an offset inlet/center outlet design. How much of a PITA is it going to be for me to use what's left of my stock catback to run it to the spot? I have the complete muffler to tailpipe section.

Also I need the name of a good exhaust shop in the Nola area...let's just say i'm very hesitant about going back to my usual spot.

Thanks.

whoever does it will just bend it where it needs to be. shouldn't be difficult regardless of where the outlet is.

I ran mine with band clamps to see what it would sound like before I welded everything up.

first...my build is a mild 6.0, dual 3 in pipes merging into 3.5 flowmaster y pipe then unto 3 in 22 aerochamber opened up to 3.5 and dumped after axle...sounded quiet and nice.

second, i added tailpipe to quiet down even more but instead it got deeper and louder...

third, went back to dumped after axle but added a 4 in resonator tip, sounds not as quiet as first but can hear cam more and sounds better overall...

just some input on things i tried and how they impacted my system.

As of now, i'm going to have it run to the stock location w/ a 3.5x12 tip. I would like to keep the Hooker, but I do still have the 18" magnaflow that I took off, and I am not opposed to having it put back on, as it never resonated like this, even when it was dumped before the axle.

I know there are a million threads about this kind of stuff, and I've been searching around for a couple of days trying to find what I'm looking for.

i have no ugly drone or rasp...i can hear my cam very nicely at idle, it is smooth upon acceleration and kinda quiet at 75 mph/2200 rpm.

I just need to find a tip now. Thinking of going with a summit stainless one. I will update with a sound clip when I get it done, I just hope this does what I want.

I had the 12"Aero and I lost low end.just recently switched to a flowmaster and the truck seems to run alot better thru the rpm band.I took a trip to colorado from cali with the aero and when i got to a hill the truck would shift to passing gear to maintain cruise and then it would shift again to second to maintain, cruise was set at 75 and it would cycle from 2nd to 3rd gear just to maintain 75 mph.Rpms would go from 3,000 to 5,000 and back and forth till I got to the top of the hill.I just went to Arizona with the flowmaster and it never had to go below 3rd gear and 3,000 rpm to climb the hills. And the resonation with the Aero was way too loud for a long trip.Aero sounded good though! thats about it.

I had a 22 inch Aerochamber when I had cats and it sounded great with no drone. After I put my headers on and ditched the cats it had serious drone.

I have 24 inch Magnaflow on now and it is much better. Very quiet while cruising or accelerating part throttle.

It does sound pretty good, I even had a couple of guys come up to me at a gas station and comment on it, but the interior drone while cruising 20-50MPH is just bad.

Got my tip in yesterday. It's a summit stainless 3.5X12. Should hopefully have it all welded up by the end of the week. Between that and getting tint re-done should be a good week.

Well I had a new tailpipe fabbed up, and it's pretty quiet until about 1700rpm, then it goes downhill from there. The drone is worse than before.

The tip is only about 1.5" away from the body and I'm going to bend the hangar some to get it to 3-4" and see if that helps any. If not, I think I'm feeling a 24" Magnaflow.
