How wide of a tire do i need to really stick to the track well and still be able to drive on it everyday. I have a 16 inch wheel and i cant seem to find any good tires to fit them.

i just got new tires too. a lot of people told me to get the goodyear GTII. they are a good over all tire, look sporty, good traction on the street and track (what i have been told). mine hook up great on the street. the size a few of us have are the 285/60/16. there about the same size as the stock tire. if you have a sams card, you can get them there for like 104 a tire, it was the best price i could find. paid just under 500 to have them installed for me.
good luck on you pick. that was just my $.02

I will be putting new tires on my truck next week. I have the stock GMC 16" rims. I am going to be trying out the Toyo Proxes S/T. They are 275/60/16's. I am hoping that they are not too wide for the rim. They are supposed to have awesome traction (I think the rating is like a 420) Good sticky tires. I have heard good things about them. The only negs I have heard are the price ($150 per tire here in AK) and that they have a tendency to pick up sharp stuff.

General makes a 275/60/16 and a 275/55/16. You can get either for about $100 a tire. I am going with the 275/55s to get a little shorter tire for the 2/4 drop. The are 28.0" tall. About an inch to inch and a half shorter then stock.

But, of course, I have a stall and had 255/50-16 kuhmo's. Bad thing is they make no noise when they spin, so I'd spin em w/o knowing for a sec then have to back off.
