ok, i called in the troops. settled with the TR220 on a 114. called thunder racing and paul said the 224 wouldnt be very good for my application. recommended a 3500 stall, and well, i already bought the 3k. too late. so now all i gotta do is get home and contact nelson, get them to throw it in and road tune it... then i go find some action. what kinda numbers can i look for on the dyno? TR had a dyno sheet for a 5.3 with the 220 with LT headers and same **** i have.. said 340-350 hp. is that about right? any 5.3 TR220s wanna comment?

So you got the 220 or the 224? I'd get the 224 even with the 3000 stall I think you would be fine. I had a 218/224 in my 5.3 with the stock converter (which I would recomend against) but my new cam is a little bigger than teh 224, with a 6L and a 3000 stall, I think I could have gone way less maybe even 2400-2600. Big cams are still too small

after reading it, it was kinda messed up
. i did get the TR220. lots of confusion about "driveability" on the 224, so i was a puss. i would rather go too small and upgrade than go too big and not be able to drive it. paranoid i suppose but i have no other vehicle to fall back on, just the truck.

Dakota I think you made a good choice on the cam alot of guys have been having good luck with that cam and your 3k stall should match it perfect. Hell man throw it in there yourself its not that hard jsut takes a while.

never put mine on the dyno, any ideas with my 1/4 mi. times?
i think you made a good choice going with the 220 since you have a big ext. cab. you won't loose any lowend with that stall. i just don't know how much power difference the 112 and 114 is. you'll be amazed after allen wakes it up with his tune, trust me...

Be careful fellas. If you really want to know what was going on with that dyno on TR's site. The truck was dynoed without the cam with the converter unlocked. Then, the converter was locked on the dyno after the cam swap. This makes the numbers higher.

What the hell is up with that v8. I dont see how ur runnin 12s and not even putting 300 to the ground. I didnt have everything you have but I was putting down over 300 to the wheels in the 5.3 and I even had a smaller cam in my engine.
