Default I-6 performance??

what do you guys think about the trailblazer i-6 4.2l engine
and can someone show me some modification for it other than inake, pcm ,tps,cat-back exhaust
something like cams or heads and headers
ive heard about the twin turbo but it didnt finish yet
any ideas of getting good performance with keeping good economy and realibility
thanks in advance

i have an 02 and all i have done is a cai. i don't trust JET so that won't make it on the TB. As far as power goes, i have seen a header for it but i remember it being expensive. Nothing else has crossed my eyes as to what you can do.

I had a 2003 Envoy with the I6 and recently traded it in for an 05 Silverado. I got rid of the Envoy because of its lack of power and fuel mileage. It wouldn't even spin the tires on a wet road. It seems like you would have to floor it not to get run over merging into traffic. Oh and the 12mpg in the city and 16mpg on the highway sucked too. K&N makes an intake and a few exhuast compaines make some catback for them (heard borla catback on an envoy that sounded really good). Was never able to find a programmer or someone to tune it but that may have changed since the last time I looked.

Volant, Airaid, K&N make decent CAI's. I believe Hedman makes a header. JBA makes a decent cat-back (stainless, or aluminized) but definitely has some unwanted low rpm drone, but I suspect if the rear resonator was replaced with something like a turbo muffler, it'd make a bunch better. Venom makes an inline PCM plug in module that supposed to be decent, but I haven't tried it. Bell Tech makes bigger sway bars (that's hard to beat, the fronts on the Trailblazer is already huge!). SSBC has a big brake setup front and back, but that's mucho dinero! Brembo has brake kits too, pricey as well. I haven't seen any tuning software, and I highly doubt there ever will be.. It's not much of a "tuner" vehicle. I guess if you want real "performance" from a Trailblazer, wait til the SS version comes out, or do a 5.3/6.0L swap, shouldn't be too bad, seeing as there are already TB's with 5.3's from the factory.

The tranny is the typical 4L60E, so... I guess your guess is as good as anyone. I know some f-body guys that can put down close to 500 rwhp and not break one, but guys with 350 rwhp break them on a regular basis... So that take that for what it's worth.
