I've always had true duals, the sound is awesome. I've got 22" long 4" tips running straight out the back. I had glasspacks, 40 series deltaflow flowmasters, and dynomax bullets. The bullets sound the deepest and meanest out of the 3. The flowmasters sounded really good with the tips, almost as good as the bullets. But, when I cut the tips/piping off and had dumps off the flowmasters, they sounded like ****! The bullets where just about as good dumped as they do now with the tips back on, less interior noise though. When I had the x-pipe put in, it was a big difference in torque from right off the idle. Nothing gets people's attention like the cam loping through the cut-outs though

I posted about my project.
I can pick up a catback meant for an SS which is a dual piped system for a few more dollars than a singla piped system split for my 5.3
And the fact my GMC shares the same frame and crossmembers as the SS its a bolt on deal.
I'm not planing on keeping the 5.3 stock for very long so I want to get the exhaust ready ahead of time. So I guess there's my answer for the quest for duals.
