Read through the owners manual. There's a lot of good info in there.

I'd start with the idle, raise it, lower it, whatever. I see you have the 42lb injectors listed in your sig. Are they already tuned for? I guess the first thing would be to download the flash from your truck and look through it a few times while looking at the manual for it. If the injectors aren't tuned for, that would be the first thing I would do. Fill in the Injector Flow Rate table with 5.25 for the 42lb injectors, 3.15 is stock I think.

This may give you a little help too:

If ya Get stuck the www.hptuners.com site has a forum that is great help
what are you trying to do with the tune ?
All out race or a daily driver tune
Do you have a ls1edit tune in there already ?
Read the Pcm first Save that as stock and we'll start from there

You downloaded your stock flash, right?

You can always start with the easy stuff. Raise shift speeds, remove speed limiter, remove as much TM as you feel comfortable.. etc. etc.

If you want to tune LTFT's - there is a good spreadsheet I found on the HPT forum - it's called something like "tuning-1.0.2.xls".

ok, i read the vcm and gave it a name for future reference. I then went into the scanner feature and tried to log some data. I got about 5 min worth. When i try to play it back, I get nothing. I'll play with it more tonight after work. My primary goal is to get the timing right and fix the TCC issues I'm having.

DHD, I'm in a small town just south of Worcester, near the CT/RI boarder...

Do you hit Epping a lot? I still haven't got a chance to get up there.
