Default HPPIII shift settings

I'm sure this topic has been discussed again and again. I tried a search but I couldn't find what I was looking for? I have a 99 Silverado 5.3 with 3.73 gears. What is the best shift points from experience? I'm currently shifting at +3,+6. That's about 5600rmp+/-. I was told that stock shifts at 5200rpm+/-. My seat of the pants meter didn't feel like the truck was pulling at the higher rpms. Maybe I was mistaken. Any help and advice would be great. Thanks guys. <img border="0" alt="[Truck]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_truck.gif" />

I just got my HPPIII and went to the track last night. I have a 4.8L SCSB with 3.42's, and I set the rev limiter @ 6200, ***** at +5 and +12. I got my best times with this setup, BUT...

I have heard from several people that there may be an issue with pushrod life at this rpm. I ran my best mph with those settings (70.08 in the 1/8)and spun with a high 2.3 (like 2.37 or 2.38) 60'.

I didn't see a great increase in the 1/8 by bumping up the shift points, so I think that I'm going to set mine back to 6000, +4 +11.

I don't push mine past 6100 rpm's when using the HPP. With 3.73's, the max I can go is +4 from 1-2 (6112 rpms), 2-3 +12 (6012). I have it set for +3 (5986) 1-2 and do have it at +12 for 2-3, putting 1-2 at +4 didn't produce better times so I figured why push the engine.

I'm shifting @about 6k with 4.10/1 but the help
is [I think] because I'm cathing 2nd & 3rd 500 rpm
higher so it's not as flat after the shift.

From what I've read, 99 trucks shifted from all gears at 5200 rpm's. 00+ trucks shift from 1-2 at 5600, then 5200 for all the rest, they put a different cam in the 00+ trucks. Yours being a 99, it might not like being reved to 6K because of the cam. If stock is 5200, then 5600 may be your max!?
